Frequently Asked Questions
What is laugh.town?
laugh.town is a comedy database where clubs and comedians can publish all of their stuff. I collect comedians, comedy venues, live shows, specials, albums, and more. The data is openly published using the AT Protocol so anyone can build on it. A metaphor here is like: RSS is to podcasts as ATProto + laugh.town is to all the other work you'll want to share.
How do I claim my page?
If you're a comedian or venue owner, email tyler@laugh.town from an address associated with your official presence. You could also shoot a DM to @laughtownlarry on Instagram or @laugh.town on Bluesky. Then I'll verify you and grant full edit access.
How do edit suggestions work?
For unclaimed pages, any signed-in user can suggest edits to comedian and venue pages. Click on a field to edit it, make your changes, and click Submit. Your suggestions are published to your AT Protocol account and reviewed by a moderator, who can accept or reject individual changes.
Once your page is claimed, you'll be the manager of that page. Community updates will be good in the early days of laugh.town for the platform to feel good, then it will be best for retired and dead comedians who will not be updating their pages.
How do I sign in?
laugh.town uses Bluesky accounts for sign-in via the AT Protocol. If you have a Bluesky account, you can sign in with your handle. If not, you can create one at bsky.app. Or, you can wait for a bit and i'll support creating an account on laugh.town shortly.
