Are you curious about how improv can be used to create works grounded in dramatic horror rather than comedy? Discover the improvisational techniques used in Undertow to instill feelings of the Eerie and Uncanny. In this workshop, you will learn new improv tools for manipulating time and agency, and learn how these techniques can be used structurally to build tension and horror-relevant dramatic arcs over the course of a show. Instructor: Tom Williams is the artistic director of the Dramatheurgy improvisational theater company (Undertow, Black Mirror / Red Carpet, Robot Riot), and a founding member of Minor Adjustments: The Improvised Musical. He is also an Associate Professor of Computer Science whose robotics laboratory uses improvisation as a tool for interactive robot design and education.
