Scenes in Parts, A Workshop with Mark Piebenga

Workshop Title: Scenes in Parts As the most compelling moments of life are the fractures, fissures, and fragments, improvising in the broken moments is fertile ground for comedy and pathos. Along with scenework, the workshop will equip players to pinpoint connection in a momentary glance, name the reality, and live honestly in a scene of seconds, minutes, or lifetimes. The conclusion will be the form Parts, created by TJ Jagodowski, allowing for a series immediate scenes which exist just long enough. Mark Piebenga has been performing and teaching improv for many years and got his start on the same Grand Rapids community improv team as Dann Sytsma. Credits include K-College’s Monkapult and Chicago’s the Bughouse, the Playground, iO, Second City, In Bed By 10, and many national festivals and locales, including an overly gracious amount at the Crawlspace Theater.
