What laugh.town Is
laugh.town is a community-maintained, publicly accessible comedy database. It tracks comedians, comedy venues, live shows, specials, albums, and related information. The service is provided as-is for informational and community purposes.
Your Data Is Public
laugh.town is built on the AT Protocol, a decentralized social networking protocol. By design, all data you create through laugh.town is publicly accessible. This includes:
- Your Bluesky handle, which is visible on the site
- Favorites you add (comedians and venues you follow)
- Edit suggestions you submit
- Any records published to your AT Protocol Personal Data Server (PDS)
There is no private mode. If you are not comfortable with this information being public, do not use the service.
Content You Upload
Any content you upload to laugh.town — including photos, images, text edits, and other contributions — is treated as CC-0 (public domain). By uploading content, you:
- Waive all copyright and related rights to the extent permitted by law
- Confirm you have the right to upload the content (you own it, or it is already in the public domain)
- Understand the content may be freely used, modified, and distributed by anyone for any purpose
Do not upload content you do not have the rights to share. Do not upload copyrighted images, watermarked press photos, or other protected material.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others
- Submit false or misleading information
- Abuse the edit suggestion system (spam, vandalism, or harassment)
- Attempt to impersonate a comedian or venue you are not authorized to represent
- Use automated tools to scrape or overload the service
Accounts that violate these terms may be silenced or banned at the discretion of the moderators.
Verified Accounts
Comedians and venue operators may request verified status by contacting help@laugh.town. Verified accounts have direct edit access to their page. Verification may be revoked at any time.
No Warranty
laugh.town is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of any information on the site. We are not responsible for any errors, omissions, or the results of using the information provided.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, laugh.town and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be communicated through the site.
